JAZIRAT AL HAMRA, UAE. February 15, 2012 – Jazirat Al Hamra (Red Island) is the last authentic and traditional town still standing in the UAE. Formerly inhabited by fishermen and pearl traders in the 16th century, it was abandoned nearly 40 years ago, before the discovery of oil and gas in the region.
